Fatal Motorcycle Crash During OC Rock & Ride Raises Rider Safety Concerns

A motorcycle event that brought riders to Ocean City, Maryland, ended on a somber note after a deadly crash on Coastal Highway.

According to the Ocean City Police Department, two motorcycles were involved in a crash near 37th Street and Coastal Highway on September 10. One rider was killed and another was injured.

For the motorcycle community, news like this hits hard. Events like OC Rock & Ride are supposed to be about getting together, enjoying the ride, and spending time with people who share a love of motorcycles. A serious or fatal crash is a painful reminder of how quickly things can change on the road.

At Freeburn Motorcycle Attorneys, we work with riders and their families throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland. We ride and advocate for rider safety in our communities. When something like this happens, our thoughts are first with the riders, their families, and everyone affected.

The Crash Happened During OC Rock & Ride

The fatal collision happened as motorcyclists were in Ocean City for OC Rock & Ride, a multi-day motorcycle event that brings riders to the resort area for riding, entertainment, and time together.

Police responded to multiple motorcycle crashes during the event, and the incidents have led to conversations about motorcycle safety and what large motorcycle gatherings mean for Ocean City.

But motorcycle safety isn't just an issue during Bike Week or other major events. Riders deal with risks every time they get on the road. Busy intersections, turning vehicles, changing traffic patterns, blind spots, distracted drivers, speed, and simple mistakes can all become much more serious when a motorcycle is involved.

Motorcycle Safety Is About Everyone Sharing the Road

We drive cars. We ride motorcycles. We have friends and family members doing the same.

Making the roads safer means everyone paying attention and respecting the fact that motorcycles don't have the same physical protection as cars and trucks.

For more than 40 years, Freeburn has advocated for motorcycle riders and rider safety. Motorcycles are more than transportation for many of us. Riding is something we care deeply about, and protecting the people who ride matters.

Injured Riders Deserve Someone in Their Corner

A motorcycle crash can affect much more than the bike.

There can be hospital visits, time away from work, medical bills, ongoing treatment, and questions about whether you'll be able to ride or return to the life you had before the accident. For families who lose someone in a motorcycle crash, the impact is even greater.

That's why the personal part of personal injury matters to us.

Freeburn Motorcycle Attorneys has spent more than 40 years standing up for injured people, including riders. We understand motorcycle accident claims, but just as importantly, we understand the community behind them.

We ride. We show up. And when a rider needs help, we're on their side.

If you or a family member has been injured in a motorcycle accident in Maryland or Pennsylvania, you don't have to figure out what comes next by yourself. Talk with the team at Freeburn Motorcycle Attorneys about what happened and learn about your options.
